Cookie Policy
Last updated: July 25, 2025 Applies to: https://shonenden.com and all its subdomains
This Cookie Policy explains how Shonen Den (“we”, “us”, “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our online store. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your personal data under the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173) and its Implementing Rules and Regulations.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They let the site remember your actions and preferences over time, so you don’t have to re-enter them on every page.
We also use technologies that work like cookies, and this policy covers all of them:
- Local storage and session storage — data saved in your browser, used for things like keeping your cart and wishlist in sync.
- Pixels and tracking scripts — tiny snippets of code that report page views and actions back to a service such as an analytics or advertising platform.
- Software development kits (SDKs) loaded by embedded third-party features, such as our Facebook Messenger chat widget.
First-party cookies are set by Shonen Den. Third-party cookies are set by other companies whose services we embed, such as payment providers and analytics tools.
2. Why we use cookies
We use cookies to:
- Keep items in your shopping cart as you move between pages
- Keep you signed in to your customer account
- Process orders and payments securely, including GCash, Maya, bank transfer and card payments
- Remember preferences such as language, currency and items you’ve saved
- Protect the store against fraud, spam and abuse
- Understand which products, pre-orders and restocks our customers are most interested in
- Show you relevant figure drops and promotions on platforms like Facebook and Instagram
3. Categories of cookies we use
3.1 Strictly necessary cookies
These are required for the store to function. They cannot be switched off in our systems, because without them you could not add items to your cart, log in, or check out. They do not require your consent.
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| woocommerce_cart_hash | Shonen Den | Tracks changes to your cart contents | Session |
| woocommerce_items_in_cart | Shonen Den | Tells the site whether your cart has items in it | Session |
| wp_woocommerce_session_* | Shonen Den | Links your browser to your cart and order data on our server | 2 days |
| wordpress_logged_in_, wordpress_sec_ | Shonen Den | Keeps you signed in and verifies your session | Session, or 14 days with “Remember me” |
| PHPSESSID | Shonen Den | Maintains your session state across page loads | Session |
| [CONSENT_COOKIE_NAME] | Shonen Den | Records your cookie preferences so we don’t ask again on every visit | [6–12 months] |
| __cf_bm, cf_clearance | Cloudflare | Distinguishes real visitors from bots and protects the store from attacks | 30 minutes to 1 year |
3.2 Functional and preference cookies
These remember choices you make so the store feels consistent between visits. If you block them, parts of the site will still work but will feel less personalised.
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| wp-settings-, wp-settings-time- | Shonen Den | Remembers display preferences for logged-in users | 1 year |
| woocommerce_recently_viewed | Shonen Den | Powers the “recently viewed figures” section | Session |
| Wishlist and saved-item storage | Shonen Den | Keeps your saved figures available when you return | Up to 1 year |
| Promotion and giveaway cookies | Shonen Den | Records entries in on-site promotions such as spin-to-win, so each customer plays within the stated limits | [30 days] |
3.3 Analytics and performance cookies
These help us understand how the store is used — which pages get traffic, where people drop off during checkout, and which figures get the most attention. The data is aggregated and used to improve the store.
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga, ga* | Google Analytics | Distinguishes visitors and measures site usage | Up to 2 years |
| _gid | Google Analytics | Distinguishes visitors over a 24-hour period | 24 hours |
| _gat, gat_gtag* | Google Analytics | Limits how often requests are sent to Google’s servers | 1 minute |
3.4 Marketing and advertising cookies
These let us measure the performance of our ads and show you products you may be interested in on other platforms. They may be used by those platforms to build a profile of your interests.
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| _fbp | Meta (Facebook) | Identifies browsers for advertising and conversion measurement | 3 months |
| fr | Meta (Facebook) | Delivers and measures ads on Facebook and Instagram | 3 months |
| Messenger chat plugin storage | Meta (Facebook) | Runs the chat widget and keeps your conversation with us open across pages | Varies by Meta |
| _ttp, _tt_enable_cookie | TikTok | Measures ad performance and attributes conversions | Up to 13 months |
Remove any row above for a service you do not actually run, and add rows for any service not listed. This table must match what your site really loads.
3.5 Payment and checkout cookies
When you pay through GCash, Maya, a card processor or another gateway, that provider may set its own cookies to complete the transaction, verify the payment and detect fraud. These are governed by the provider’s own privacy and cookie policies. We never receive or store your full card number or e-wallet credentials.
4. Third-party services
The third parties below may receive data about your visit. Each operates under its own policy, and we encourage you to review them:
- Google (Analytics, and Ads if enabled) — policies.google.com/privacy
- Meta Platforms (Facebook Pixel, Messenger chat) — facebook.com/privacy/policy
- Cloudflare (security and performance) — cloudflare.com/privacypolicy
- [PAYMENT PROVIDERS] — for processing GCash, Maya, bank and card payments
- [COURIER / TRACKING WIDGETS] — where shipment tracking is embedded on the site
Some of these providers are based outside the Philippines, which means your data may be transferred abroad. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure the transfer complies with the Data Privacy Act of 2012 and that appropriate safeguards are in place.
5. Your choices and how to manage cookies
5.1 On our site
When you first visit, our consent banner lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies. You can change your choice at any time by clicking [Cookie Settings] in the footer, or by clearing our cookies in your browser so the banner appears again.
5.2 In your browser
Every major browser lets you view, block and delete cookies. Look under Settings → Privacy:
- Google Chrome — support.google.com/chrome/answer/95647
- Mozilla Firefox — support.mozilla.org
- Safari — support.apple.com
- Microsoft Edge — support.microsoft.com/microsoft-edge
5.3 Opting out of specific services
- Google Analytics: install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
- Facebook and Instagram ads: adjust your ad preferences in your Meta account settings.
5.4 What happens if you block cookies
Blocking strictly necessary cookies will break core functions: your cart may empty between pages, you may not be able to log in, and checkout may fail. Blocking analytics or marketing cookies has no effect on your ability to browse or place an order.
6. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Browsers may send a “Do Not Track” or Global Privacy Control signal. There is no single agreed standard for how sites should respond. Our current practice is: [state whether you honour GPC — e.g. “we treat a Global Privacy Control signal as a rejection of analytics and marketing cookies”].
7. Cookies and children
Our store is intended for customers aged 18 and above, and we do not knowingly collect data from children through cookies. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
8. Legal basis
We rely on the following bases under the Data Privacy Act of 2012:
- Contractual necessity and legitimate interest for strictly necessary cookies — without them we cannot deliver the service you requested or keep the store secure.
- Your consent for functional, analytics and marketing cookies. You may withdraw consent at any time, and withdrawing it does not affect processing carried out beforehand.
If you access our store from the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we also aim to handle cookies in a manner consistent with the ePrivacy Directive and the GDPR.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as we add or remove services, or as the law changes. The “last updated” date at the top always reflects the current version. Material changes will be announced through a notice on the site.
